Deep Tissue Massage Technique
Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down the adhesions within the muscle to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles. This can be a painful technique when applying directly to the muscle.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is the technique that applies pressure to the tender muscle directly to relieve pain and free the muscle up. Trigger points cause muscular pain to the inital site in the muscle and to other areas surrounding the muscle often called refered pain. This type of trigger point is called active. A trigger point that is only felt when  compressed and does not cause any pain in the surrounding are is known as a latent trigger point.

By using trigger point therapy this can free up the muscle and retain the muscle memory to do the action it should be doing without sending pain signals to the brain which causes the muscle to stiffen and prevent further injury or pain to that area.
