Sandcastles at East Beach

The golden sands of East Beach stretch for miles and the bridge makes it easy to reach the toilets (Station Park) and ice cream shops! Please respect the fragile dunes and be careful in the water, the currents can be strong around the breakwater and the riverbanks are steep.

West Beach Planes & Pools

West Beach is a great place to spot the jets approaching RAF Lossiemouth over the beach. Cover your ears! At low tide, there are lots of rockpools to explore, with hermit crabs and tiny fish. At high tide, the reef forms a natural lagoon in front of the car park, good for paddleboarding and swimming (check tides & weather).

Build dens & explore in the woods

The woods are easily accessed via the old railway line or the river path. There’s old war defences to explore and lots of wood for den building. Look out for red squirrels! You might even find a secret bird hide. Trails are uneven but mostly OK for mountain bikes and offroad buggies.
