Lossiemouth is a great place to base yourself to explore further afield. Share a dram at a local distillery. Clamber through old ruined castles, or take tea in the garden of a stately home.
From Lossie, you can get a morning’s skiing at the Lecht or Cairngorm and be back home for an afternoon surf before tucking into a fresh seafood dinner and a locally brewed beer.

castles, CASHMERE and a cathedral
Indulge your senses and your sense of history with a trip to Elgin.
Elgin is the largest town in Moray and only five miles south of Lossie. The town has many old and interesting buildings and monuments, including a striking ruined cathedral and prestigious woollen mill.
This itinerary is very flexible, allow at least half a day.
sanctuary and scenery
Head west along the coast and take in our neighbouring villages of Hopeman and Burghead. The forested bay of Roseisle leads you to the pretty village of Findhorn with its world famous eco-community.
Turn inland to historic Forres, and follow the River Findhorn upstream to Logie Steading and Estate for destination shopping and stunning river walks. Return via Pluscarden Abbey and Califer Hill viewpoint.


dolphins, a walled garden & sea stacks
Spot dolphins and ospreys at the mouth of the famous River Spey, just 20 minutes from Lossiemouth. After a bracing walk on the beach, take a stroll round the award-winning walled garden at Gordon Castle.
Further along the coast, see the famous Bow Fiddle Rock, then onto Cullen, a pretty village in a dramatic landscape, with imposing viaduct and many antique shops to browse through.

Getting Here
Lossiemouth is on the Moray coast, approximately 40 miles east of Inverness and 70 miles northwest of Aberdeen. The A96 is the main road between these two cities.
Travelling by bus or train, head to Elgin for a connecting bus service to Lossiemouth.
